|Honey Lip Cream|
© Country Living
| ||1 tsp. honey|
1 tsp melted beeswax
2 tsp almond oil
Melt honey and beeswax in a double boiler, add almond oil. Put into a jar and shake. Pour into molds or jars and allow cream to set for at least 10 minutes before using.
| ||2 tsp. beeswax|
7 tsp. castor, jojoba or sweet almond oil
1 tsp. honey
5 drops of an essential oil (lemon, orange, peppermint, etc.)
Melt the oil and beeswax until beeswax is melted. Remove from heat and add honey. Whisk it all together. When the mixture is nearly cool add the essential oil, mix it up again and then pour into a lip balm container.
If you wish it to be a little harder, simply add more beeswax.
| ||2 T. castor oil|
1 tsp. beeswax
This is really two separate recipes. To make a lip balm, add flavoring. Alternatively, you can add a fragrance oil and make a solid perfume. Heat all ingredients until melted and then pour it into your container.
|Sweet Honey Lip Balm|
| ||5-6 T. Sweet Almond or Jojoba, or vegetable oil|
1-2 T. Beeswax
2 tsp honey
2 drops essential oil (tea tree, peppermint, etc.)
Melt together the oil and beeswax in a small saucepan over low heat or in a double boiler until melted. Remove from heat and add honey and blend mixture with a small whisk. Stir until cooled, and then add the essential oil. The essential oil helps preserve it; also, jojoba oil will help it stay good, since it does not turn rancid. You can mix the oils, too (ex. mix half jojoba/half shea butter...).
|COCOA MINT LIP BALM|
| ||1.5 oz. cocoa butter (non-deodorize)|
1 oz. beeswax
1.5 oz. shea butter
.01 oz. pure Vitamin E
3-5 drops peppermint essential oil (optional)
You may wish to less or no peppermint if you don't like the "tingle" that peppermint leaves behind on your lips; the sensation disappears within a few minutes of application) In a heat proof measuring cup with a lip for pouring, melt together the cocoa butter, shea butter and beeswax over a double boiler. Once the butters and wax have completely liquefied, remove from heat. Stir with
a pop sickle stick to ensure the mix. Add Vitamin E and stir to incorporate. Add the essential oil and stir to combine. While mixture remains hot, pour into lip balm containers. You may spill a bit outside the containers as you get used to steadying your hand to pour. If this happens, wait for the mixture to harden and wipe the containers with a clean cloth. Seal, label and enjoy!!
|Coconut Lip Gloss|
| ||1/2 cup beeswax|
1/3 cup coconut oil
lipstick slivers or mica
lip balm tubes or pots
Melt beeswax and coconut oil together. Remove from heat. Add flavor and lipstick or mica to your liking. FYI: red lipstick will make a very alluring pink! Shimmery lipstick is particularly nice. Pour into tubes or pots and let harden. Enjoy!
|Cream Soda Lip Balm|
| ||1/2 Tbls. grated beeswax|
1/2 Tbls. grated Cocoa Butter
1 tsp. Coconut Oil
Mix together and melt. It worked to melt it in the microwave for about 45 seconds. Pour into small container. The recipe can be expanded. I used bavarian cream flavoring for the fragrance and it smelled like cream soda.
