Dr. Visits & Updates
8/4/06:
Today was Cassie's 2 yr checkup. She is 25 lbs, 4 oz and 35.5" tall. I can't believe
how big she is getting! Since her 18 month checkup/update she's picked up a lot more words like
bird, ball, shoes, oh no, oh man!, nigh-nigh, hi, bye, car, ou-si (outside), as well as repeating
back some peoples names. So she's coming along though still not using two or three word
sentences. We'll be having her evaluated just to be sure she's progressing normally. The day
before her birthday she began sleeping in a twin bed! By her choice...she wanted to. So we went
with it and she's done excellent. She just loves her big bed. She's getting more daring and
finally loves swinging high as well as she FINALLY went down a slide on her own - in the past we
always had to "make" her or give her a helping push. She also had a parent-tot swim class this
summer and really enjoys the water.
2/3/06:
Cassie had her 18 month checkup today and is now 24 lb and 32 3/4" tall! She is growing
just perfect. Still not really talking other than a few words and signs but loves to
"jabber" at us with her stories. :) She now signs eat and up/down regularly and shakes her head no
or nods yes appropriately. For words we get: all done "Daahhh duhhh" and "Uh ooooo" for uh-oh as
well as ma ma and da da. She'll occasionally say other things that SEEM like words - like I swear
she can say toast and bath and Dave swears he heard her say sister once. But that's about it! She's
very active now practiacally running around everywhere and loves playing with little people and blocks
a lot. She loves watching Elmo, Blues Clues and Wiggles but will watch just about anything.
11/5/05:
Cassie is really on the move lately. While she still isn't walking she just loves to
push her push toy everywhere and loves to hold our hands while walking. She just
doesn't have the confidence to stand on her own. She can now fly up the stairs crawling
though but doesn't know how to get back down yet. :) She eats a ton - many times more
than her 3 yr old sister! To give you an idea, she can easily consume an entire McDonald's hamburger plus
some. I don't know where she puts it! She hasn't said a whole lot for words yet, but
we are guessing that's because with Emily around she can't get a word in!! But she
does say mama and dada as well as Uh Oh and "This!" She tries to say "all done" but
it comes out as "Ahhhh" but she can sign it so that's good :)
8/2/05:
Cassie had her 1 yr checkup today and did so well. She didn't like her shots but
got over them very quickly. She's now 20 lb 6 oz. (40%ile) and 30 3/4" long (95%ile).
She's crawling all over the house yet but isn't pulling up to standing quite yet. She's
a sweet little thing and is getting so big and has such a personality! She has 7 teeth
now (only 4 are completely in - the rest are part way). She's not saying any words
yet but loves to just jabber with syllables.
6/24/05:
Cassie is finally starting to show interest in learning how to crawl! A few days ago
she started getting up on all 4's by herself. She hasn't figured out how to move her
legs forward yet but will rock forward and backward and spin in a circle on all 4's by
moving her hands around.
5/25/05:
Cassie is getting so big! Hard to believe she's almost 10 months already. She's such a
little sweetheart. She's still not crawling yet ~ though she's definitely trying. She
is attempting to get on all 4's but is pretty good at scooting backwards and in circles. We've
finally had success with her taking a sippy cup so that has been nice and she's also eating
everything in site! She just loves pasta, beans, pancakes and cheerios but she also loves
veggies, fruit, yogurt and oatmeal too. She eats just about anything.
3/26/05:
Cassie is now sitting very well, though has the occasional topple. She has two teeth
now and it seems like she's working on more. She is eating more table foods now
but still not fast enough to cure hunger before she gets frustrated! So she's still
eating lots of baby foods yet as well.
2/19/05:
Cassie has finally decided its ok to sit up!! For the longest time she was so lazy
about even trying or just fell over right away. All of a sudden yesterday she started
sitting longer and longer. Today she sat for 10 min playing on her own. Its like
something just clicked overnight! She also got her first tooth about a week and
a half ago! I think the other bottom front one will be coming in before long.
2/4/05:
Today was Cassie's 6 month checkup. She weighed in at 17 lb (75 %ile) even and is now
27" (90 %ile). So she's growing really well. Her weight gain has finally started
to taper off some. She's loving her solid foods. She just loves oatmeal and will
eat just about any fruit and veggie. We are going to start working with thicker
textures with her soon - she still gags a lot on any little bits/chunks in food.
She's not sitting real well yet - getting better every day, but this girl is just
lazy! :) She still has yet to roll all the way from her back to belly - most times
I find her sleeping almost completely on her belly except she is laying on one arm.
I'm sure she'll figure it out soon enough! She does sometimes try to inch forwrd by
bringing her legs up under her when on her belly. She's still a very happy, easy
going baby. I can't complain. She's many times content to just sit and chew on
a toy and watch what's going on. She does love to be snuggled too though! She's also
doing excellent at putting herself to sleep for naps and at night. I can't believe
how big she's getting already!
12/02/04:
Cassie had her 4 mon checkup today. She's 14 lb 15 oz (75%ile) and 26" (95%ile). Her
head was 42 1/2 cm. She's getting so big! She's doing great and other than the
continuing thrush she has (which we're trying Difulcan for now) she's perfectly
healthy. We'll be starting her on solid foods in a few days when I get some
from the store. She did sleep through the night on Sun night (10 hrs from 8:30 pm
to 6:30 am) but hasn't since. At least I know she CAN do it! :P She also
rolled over from her belly to her back a few weeks ago. She's so happy and smiley
all the time. And she has an adorable giggle.
11/01/04:
Cassie is now 3 months old and I was so surprised to weigh her and find that she's
just over 14 lbs!!! Yikes...she's gaining like crazy :) She smiles a ton now
and is getting really good at holding her head up. At night she's been sleeping
longer and longer stretches. Generally she eats at 9pm then goes to bed and
first work at 3, then 3:30 the next night and last night she slept until 4:30! Most
days she then sleeps until 7:30 or 8:30. She naps a short time in the mid morning and
then naps much of the afternoon and a nap again around 6 or 6:30. Just like her
big sister used to do! She's become a very good baby overall - her constant crankiness
and crying are pretty much past. Yay!
10/11/04:
Last week Cassie started this weird diaper rash and I read online that a rash that is
really red with defined borders and red bumps can mean a yeast infection. But it got
a little better but then worse the last 2 days and today I noticed the white spot on
her lip! So off to the Dr. we went and she's on Nystatin for both ends Hopefully it
will clear up fast. Also
got her weighed and she's 12 lb 14 oz already!! I just weighed her on the
1st and she was 12 lb 3 oz. then. She sure is growing well!
9/17/04:
Cassie had her 6 week checkup today. She is 11 lb, 4 oz. now and 23"! What a big
girl :) Dr said she is looking and growing great. She has been smiling at us for
a few weeks now and sometimes coos and "talks" a bit. We aren't sure how much the
Zantac is helping. Her dr. is having us stop it for a bit to see if we notice a
change for the worse. If so, she's to go back on it, otherwise we're just going
to wait it out. Overall she's doing pretty well but wants to be held most of the day.
Fortunately she's doing pretty well at night, though.
9/3/04:
We took Cassie into the Dr. on 8/30 to have her checked out because we suspected
reflux. Looks like we were right - the dr. has put her on Zantac twice day and
hopefully we'll see results within a week. She also is having her sleep in her
car seat propped up a bit so she's laying elongated but still has her head propped
up. This has helped a lot, especially at night, as she's gone from waking every
2-3 hrs at night to sleeping 4-5 hr stretches! She's been on the meds
3 days now. So hopefully we'll see good results by a weeks end. Otherwise, she's
growing GREAT - in the 90th %ile for weight! She's 10 lb 2 oz. now at one month.
8/16/04:
Today was her 2 week checkup. She is gaining weight great and is up to 8 lb
7 oz already! So she gained 20 oz in the past 11 days (very good!). She's still
21" and her head is now 37 cm. She's doing great all around and looking very healthy.
8/5/04:
Cassie had her weight check at the dr today. She's 4 days old and is now
back to 7 lb 3 oz. (she was 6 lb 15 oz. when we left the hospital 2 days ago). She's
eating well and sleeping pretty well too.
