Steph's Cake Decorating Welcome to my web scrapbook of cakes that I have made. They are listed with the most recent cake first. I've had my cake decorating kit from Wilton for a few years now but only recently really started to practice and use it. I've done these cakes as they are nice beginner ones with basic tips, etc. I want to practice more with making fancier flowers and designs in the future. Flower Cake (Emily's 1st Birthday) Made: February 2003 This one was pretty simple - just two rounds frosted white and colored cupcakes all around to make "flowers". I also found some cute bug decorative candles to put on them. Easter/Spring Lamb Cake Made: April 2004 This cake was based off of Wilton's Leisurely Lamb cake with a few modifications! :) Blue's Clues Cake (Emily's 2nd Birthday) Made: February 2004 This cake was made using Wilton's Blue's Clues cake pan. Nothing too fancy here but a great beginners project! The cup cakes are pretty basic - just used a star tip to make the paw prints. Dora Cake (Emily's 3rd Birthday) Made: February 2005 This was my biggest project yet - a Dora island palm tree cake! Again based off a Wilton cake but I added some Dora figurines I got at Walmart instead :) Striped Cake (Cassie's 1st Birthday) Made: August 2005 I found this idea in a magazine and it was pretty simple overall. Castle Cake (Emily's 4th Birthday) Made: February 2006 Idea was from familyfun.com. The turrets are sugar cones coated in colored melted chocolate wafers and sprinkled with colored sugar crystals. Monster Cupcakes (Emily's 4th Birthday School) Made: February 2006 Cupcakes with blue frosting star tipped long. White melt chocolates for eyes with mini m-n-m's on them and for the nose. DAD Cake (Father's Day) Made: June 2006 Round cake cut to make 2 D's and a square cake cut to make the A. Frosted and decorated with M-n-M's. Blue Round Cake (Cassie's 2nd Birthday) Made: August 2006 Did a 2 layer round cake, frosted with funfetti frosting and then traced a template of Blue's face and decorated with buttercream and a star tip. Blue's Clues House Cake (Cassie's 2nd Birthday Party) Made: August 2006 Iced a 9x13 cake and did "grass" icing. Construced a Blue's house replica out of a quartered square cake (used 3 pcs of it) and made the roof out of a carved off loaf shaped cake. Trees were chocolate melts. Barbie Genevieve/12 Dancing Princesses Cake (Emily's 5th Birthday Party) Made: February 2007 Barbie cake pan ~ lots of pink icing and Wilton's pink & white sparkle sugar. Roses are royal icing. Wilton Course 1 Class Made: February 2007 Rainbow Cake Clown Cake Rose Cake Rainbow Cupcakes for Em's School Party (Emily's 5th Birthday) Made: February 2007 Easter Basket Cake Made: April 2007 Basketweave with chocolate icing. Rope border on top and bottom. Green icing grass & malted egg candies inside. Handle was made with chocolate royal icing with a bent hanger as a "frame".
